A Hunter.io Email Verifier alternative that checks disposable addresses and costs a token
Hunter is a prospecting platform first, and its verifier is priced that way: 50 free credits a month, then $49 a month for 2,000 credits, with a verification costing half a credit. Its pricing page also says it does not verify disposable addresses. The Email Validation API is a signup-form tool: syntax, a live MX lookup, a 12,000-domain disposable blocklist and typo suggestions for popular mail domains, at 10 tokens a call on a plan shared with 127 other APIs.

Reasons to pick Email Validation API
- Built for forms: syntax, live MX, disposable detection and did-you-mean suggestions in one response, which is what cuts fake signups.
- Roughly a fifth of the entry price per validation, on a plan you share with phone validation, IP intelligence and the rest of the catalog.
- No credits that expire: tokens reset monthly on every plan.
- The Disposable Email Checker API on the same key when the blocklist is all you need, at 1 token a call.
When Hunter.io Email Verifier is still the better choice
- You need Hunter's email finder, domain search or deliverability scoring; the Email Validation API does not do mailbox-level SMTP probing or prospecting.
- You want the CRM integrations Hunter ships.

Questions people ask
- Does it confirm the mailbox exists?
- It confirms the syntax, that the domain accepts mail (live MX records) and whether the domain is disposable. It does not probe the mailbox over SMTP, which most providers block anyway.
- What are typo suggestions?
- For addresses such as name@gmial.com the response suggests name@gmail.com, using a dictionary of popular mail domains.
- Why does a call cost 10 tokens?
- Each validation performs a live DNS lookup over DNS-over-HTTPS, which is slower and costlier than a database read, so it is priced above the 1-token lookups.
