What exactly is checked?

Four things in one call: the address syntax, a live DNS lookup confirming the domain has mail-exchanger records, whether the domain is a known disposable provider, and a suggested correction when the domain looks like a typo of a popular one.

Does it confirm the mailbox exists?

No. Mailbox-level verification requires SMTP probing that most mail servers block or penalise, so this API confirms the domain can receive mail and leaves mailbox existence to a confirmation email.

Where does the disposable list come from?

A bundled blocklist of 12,169 domains merged from the CC0 disposable-email-domains project, the MIT-licensed FakeFilter list and a small hand-verified set. Alias and forwarding services that real people use are deliberately excluded.

The MX lookup goes over DNS-over-HTTPS from the edge and results are cached, so most calls return in well under a second.

What does a call cost?

Source: RFC-style syntax rules, live DNS MX lookups over DNS-over-HTTPS, a 12,169-domain disposable blocklist, and a typo dictionary of popular mail domains.
Freshness: MX records checked live on every call. The disposable blocklist is refreshed with each release of the API.
