What quality data is included?

The CMS overall star rating from 1 to 5 where assigned, with the measure-group summaries for mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience and timeliness of care.

Where do coordinates and bed counts come from?

From the Department of Homeland Security HIFLD hospital layer, matched to 86% of CMS hospitals, which also adds trauma level, helipad and website. Hospitals without a match still return their CMS data.

How fresh is the data?

The CMS hospital file is re-synced daily, so new certifications and rating updates appear within a day. Geographic attributes are preserved across syncs.

Can I search near a point?

Yes. The nearby endpoint returns hospitals within a radius of a coordinate sorted by distance, with an option to limit to those offering emergency services.
